Nice game!

I sadly couldn't get far in the game, but from what I saw, it looks pretty interesting :D
- The art is really good! The drawings are well made and fits with the theme; the music and sound effects sounded nice, even though at first I felt the music and drawing styles didn't go well together (I got used to it very quickly, however ;D).
- Gameplay goes really well in the beginning without being too easy. At first I thought not using the classic WASD-arrows system would be a problem, but I was wrong :)
- The overall idea/story sounds awesome, I'm sad I couldn't go as far as I wanted :( I'm definetly going to finish this game soon, I wanna play this up to the end :D

Overall, nice job! Keep up the good work! :D

Nice game! I like that idea and the new mechanics each level :)

This is a beginning. What is done is good but there is place for improvements.

The gameplay makes the game too boring. You just shoot zombies, like that, forever - and it's way too easy, even in hard mode. It would be better if :
- 1) Pickups spawn less frequently (Hard mode has, like, 10 pickups simultaneously on the screen; I had 100 health and bonus weapon all the time);
- 2) The game was a little harder (or would get harder and harder as time goes) and, mostly,
- 3) The game could be wave-based (it might seem a bit far from the original idea, but I feel it could make the game more fun to play). Not only it would make it easier to progressively increase the difficulty (more/stronger zombies each wave), but it would also allow some variety in the enemies. Some random ideas : You can make zombie that takes several shots to kill, zombies that go faster, or even bosses.

Example : wave 1 starts with a few 1-shot-killed zombies, wave 2 goes with a greater amount of these, then wave 3 introduces stronger zombies, then a few waves later fast zombies are introduced, then the next one mixes all zombie types introduced yet, and each, like, 10 waves, there's a boss.
(Yes, that's classic and ordinary, but I feel it would already help making the game more fun to play. Also, you might have a completely different idea to enhance the game, what I wrote is just an example or a suggestion.)

Art is correct. It's not impressive, but it's not bad. If you choose to follow the example above, you could make a different texture for each zombie type.

Overall, it looks like it started from a good idea but it would need much more development. The current game is basic and get boring way too quickly, since after a few minutes, the player doesn't discover any new challenge. I suggest you add much more mechanics to the game to liven it up a bit :)

Yes, I'll have it all in my mind for a sequel to this game. This game is already old, at the time I was still learning the basics of pixel art.

Cool game!

I remember playing the original Castle Wars years ago on some website, and it was fun to re-discover the game with this new version!

The gameplay is smooth, the art is satisfying, and even though the rules seemed a bit complex when I first read the tutorial, I quickly understood and I became nearly addicted to the game :D

Keep up the good work! :)

Very well made!

I really like the concept of the game, it's original and addictive :D
The simple graphics and the mechanics that progressively increase the difficulty helps making this game an awesome challenge :)

One of my favorite games yet. Keep up the good work! :D

It looks really nice! I just wish it would be longer and/or harder :)
Other than that, the art, the controls and everything else was very good in my opinion :D

Criobite responds:

Great, glad you like it! The next games will be longer, that's for sure! :D

Nice game!

I like that concept of exploring, unlocking & escaping :) The art is well made, the music is satisfying and the gameplay is correct despite a few problems : Moving around room with arrows is a bit confusing when starting (I got used to that system quite quick, though) and 20 minutes wasn't enough for me to complete it; it took me roughly 30-40 minutes.

I think 3.5 stars would be a good rating. Keep up the good work! ;)

Nice game!

I really like the puzzles - they're hard, but not too hard (for my skills, at least :D). Even though some might look a bit random, they were generally interesting and mostly, they were overall original. The hints that can unlocked by viewing a short ad is a good idea, it helped a few times when I was stuck and it's easier to access than a whole walkthrough on another website :)

Also, the graphics are really well made and help creating the mystery/creepy ambience of the game :D It's hard to compare because I'm not very often on the game portal, but I played a few flash games and that would fit in the best graphics I've seen yet ;)

The only problem I had was lag : at some point (in the second room, the submarine, right after I burnt the fish and saw the 3 letters), the game completely froze. I checked in the task manager, the website was taking above 1 GB of physical memory. I would understand for a super-detailed 3D game, but that's just a simple 2D Point'n'Click... :( I suggest you see if you can reduce memory usage.

I think 4.5 stars would be a good rating. I saw there are a few other games in the Cube Escape series; when I'll finish this one, I might try them, I'm interested ;)
